Jacmel is often said to be the art capital of Haiti. In this spirit, it is fitting that the DCC aims to develop partnerships with artist collectives in Jacmel that work to empower members of the community through art, dance, and music classes as well as residencies for inspiring artists.

 

One such organization in Jacmel is Centre d'Art Jacmel, which has a mission that overlaps with the Dyaspora Coordinating Committee. DCC proposes to initiate and facilitate relationships between CAJ and arts organizations in the US. As a result of this partnership, with the support of the DCC an inaugural art exhibition of the work of Jacmel artists in the city of Philadelphia would serve as a fundraiser for the efforts of artist collectives in Haiti.
