Through the Dyaspora-Haiti Scholarship Fund the DCC has funded the tuition, fees, books, and uniforms of two Haitian Girls for the 2018-2019 school year.
For the 2018-2019 academic year the Dyaspora Coordinating Committee is happy to announce that is able to fund the education of two Haitian school girls.
Congratulations to Soudia Bonhomme of Jacmel, Haiti and Victoria Francois of Port au Prince, Haiti for their successful applications and being selected as our 2018-2019 scholars!
Due to a general lack of publicly funded schools in Haiti and the fact that the majority of school-age children must enroll in private schools, the DCC launched the Dyaspora-Haiti Scholarship Fund in September of 2017. The purpose of this fund is to support students with demonstrated academic promise to continue their education. During the 2017-2018 academic year, DCC was able to fund 1 young woman from Jacmel, Haiti as its inaugural scholar. This year, after reviewing her application, the fund was able to support renewal of its inaugural scholar and approve an additional scholarship to cover the costs associated with attendance include tuition, uniforms, and school supplies.
